The Dutchmen loved it. They always enjoy a trip to Bucharest, not just because of the beer and women. Even though I know Switzerland is high-standard country in Europe and you have so many brands, yummy chocolate for me.
I hope you are not reading your tabloids because I remember the Cluj lies.

True, Transylvania and Bucovina are also nice. We also have Mamaia resort at the Black Sea. It's our riviera.

"Little Vienna" was called Temeschburg/Temeschwar, today's Timișoara. Not Bucharest. The capital was known as "Paris of the East". Actually all Ceaușescu, the war and the 1977 earthquake destroyed it little by little.
"Paris" because it also has the same architecture, its building styles are even more mixed.. It has a boulevard like Champs-Élysées (Bulevardul Unirii) and a triumphal arch. You can visit both.
I also recommend:
* Centrul Vechi (Old Centre with Lipscani where is the famous Pasajul Macca-Villacrosse and other renovated streets; over 140 restaurants, pubs, terraces, fast foods, teahouses, beer houses, bars, clubs, lounges, bistros and gellateries; TYPE their names on Google because the majority have websites, I am posting a map; also here are some sites:
http://www.centrulvechi.com/ and
http://www.noulcentruvechi.ro/)
* The Bucharest City Tour with the double-decker bus:

* Palace of the Parliament: second biggest construction in the world after the Pentagon
* Magheru Boulevard and Victory Avenue: top-25 most expensive shopping streets in the world according to Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.
* Romanian Athenaeum
* Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History (most modern museum in Bucharest, 15 million euros recent investments), National Museum of Art of Romania, National Museum of Contemporary Art and Museum of the Romanian Peasant, these 4 I like the most from over 40 in the capital
* there are a lot of parks in Bucharest such as: Carol, Herăstrău, Cişmigiu and others
* there are also a lot of other palaces such as Cotroceni, Palatul Victoria, etc.
* there are a lot of churches, but I recommend the Palace of the Patriarchate
* Bucharest is the city with the most malls in Eastern Europe
* for those who don't know, Bucharest owns the biggest Ferrari Shop in East Europe:
http://www.ferraristore.ro
* there is UNDERGROUND RAILWAY in Bucharest, called METROU in Romanian
I recommend two beer houses:
http://www.carucubere.ro/en/homepage (Caru' cu bere) and
http://www.berariahanulcutei.ro/ (Hanul cu tei). First one since 1879, where famous writers and poets were eating and drinking together (Caragiale, Coşbuc, Goga, Delavrancea, etc.), and second which owns an impressive art & antiquities gallery.
