Most of us took it in fun to be honest and if anything has spurred the fans interest for the 2nd leg.
Only hope the holigans dont spoil it,there has been posts on the Frontline web site from basle fans about coming over for a battle.
Not advisable to be connected with them.Middlesbrough and the area is a "hard" area,lots of non football nutters who will just go nto town to sort out any basle fans.
Scarfers etc are safe as long as they do not join in.
If you are coming over,enjoy the trip.

others don't take this so serious ]To the fans of FC Basel: I was in the St Jakob Stadium on Thursday night and I'd like to tell you all that I have in over 40 years of watching football never seen a better stunt than the one you guys pulled with that 'Beat that fucking Boro' banner - absolutley brilliant - I bow to you all :-)
There's no doubt in my mind that FCB have the most ingenious and imaginative fans I've had the pleasure to meet. Unfortunately for you Swiss, you will be beaten next Thursday on the field of play but I doubt if your banner stunt will ever be bettered.
Genuine thanks for the hospitality in Basel - sorry some of our arseholes got out of order - good luck for the future (apart from next Thursday).

I didnt take it seriously,top marks for thinking about it.
Something that cannot be bettered over here.
Most boro fans are singing the praises about the basle fans in the ground on the night.
Problem in England now is stadiums are all seater and the local authorities insist on fans sitting to watch the game.If we started bouncing about like you lot we would be thrown out.
No drink inside the ground on Uefa nights is another thing.You have to get enough in the pub then risk the plod stopping you for being drunk.
Looking forward to the 2nd leg.
