Caicedo zur City?
(Blick) Basel-Sturmtalent Felipe Caicedo (21), gestern noch 1:0-Torschütze im Test gegen Yverdon, wird heute bei Manchester City erwartet. Ziemlich sicher, um medizinische Tests zu absolvieren und einen Vertrag zu unterschreiben.

und bleibt dann, um spielpraxis zu bekommen, beim fcb

Entgegen anders lautenden Meldungen trainierte Caicedo gestern in Basel (Quellen: SF2 und BaZ). Gemäss BaZ hatte Caicedo "noch nie Kontakt mit jemandem aus Manchester", die Sache laufe über seine Berater und sei "sehr schwierig".

Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson could be close to tying up a deal for FC Basle striker Felipe Caicedo.

Even though he is only 19, Caicedo has international experience and represented Ecuador at the Copa America last year.

Eriksson needs to boost his attacking options after letting under-performing Samaras and Bianchi join Celtic and Lazio on loan respectively.

Sven Close To Caicedo Move

Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson is reportedly close to sealing the signature of striker Felipe Caicedo from FC Basle.



zoom - galleria The 19 year old Ecuador international has 15 international and 2 goals to his name having represented his country at the Copa America last year.

Caicedo was the target of a number of European clubs following his performance at the Copa America, but eventually signed for Basle.

In Switzerland he has hit 12 goals in 46 appearances for Christian Gross; side.

Eriksson needs to bring in a striker to the City of Manchester Stadium having lost both Rolando Bianchi to Lazio and Georgios Samaras to Celtic on loan.

Caicedo vor Wechsel zu Manchester City?

Basels Felipe Caicedo steht offenbar unmittelbar vor einem Transfer zu Manchester City. Gemäss der englischen Tageszeitung "The Guardian" habe der Verein heute bestätigt, dass er den 19-jährigen Ecuadorianer für 5 Millionen Pfund (rund 11 Millionen Franken) vom FCB übernimmt.

Ähnlich tönt es bei der "Manchester Evening News". Auch sie reden von einem 5-Millionen-Pfund-Deal. Allerdings müsse sich Manchester City heute noch um eine Arbeitsbewilligung für Caicedo kümmern, bevor der Transfer definitiv sei. Heute um Mitternacht schliesst das internationale Transferfenster für die grossen europäischen Ligen.

Manchester City confirmed the £5m signing of Basle's 19-year-old Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo after a game in which they paid for their extraordinary profligacy in front of goal. Derby's rediscovered appetite for the fray helped them engineer their eighth point of the season with a deflected shot. The only other game the GSE chairman, Andrew D Appleby, had seen at Pride Park was the victory against Newcastle United back in September. Small wonder the Derby manager, Paul Jewell, offered to pay his air fare to return for Saturday's game at Birmingham.

Dies ist vermutlich die reine Transfersumme, während es sich bei den früher kolportierten Zahlen um den Preis des "Gesamtpakets" handeln dürfte, dh. inkl. Lohnsumme während der Vertragsaduer, Handgelder etc.

Und was macht dr FCB mit 11Mio ? Die wärde wohl im gliiche schwarze Loch verschwinde wie d'Transfersumme vo MP, Delgado & Co.

CITY were today making a last-minute double dash to beat the transfer deadline by luring Benjani from Portsmouth and Ecuador striker Felipe Caicedo from FC Basel.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has agreed the sale of his £6m-rated Zimbabwe striker providing he can sign a replacement and City were today petitioning the Home Office to secure a work permit for Caicedo so that they can complete a £5m deal.

The Blues, short of firepower having sent Rolando Bianchi and Georgios Samaras out on loan, have made Caicedo their No 1 target before the transfer window closes at midnight.

City are believed to have edged ahead of Everton and Atletico Madrid in the race to land Caicedo, who has scored two goals in 15 international appearances and boasts 12 goals from 46 appearances with the Swiss club.

Benjani, formerly of Auxerre, has scored 19 times in 69 outings for Pompey. His dozen this season makes him their top scorer.

As strikers come in, so keeper Andreas Isaksson seems sure to go out to Galatasaray in Turkey.

The clubs are haggling over the £1.2m fee and if agreement cannot be reached the Turkish side are expected to try for a loan.

Blues' boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is expected to sign Sweden Under 21 starlet Abbas Hassan from Elfsborg as his replacement.

Meanwhile, City's midfielder Ousmane Dabo has re-joined his former club Lazio on a free transfer.
